My name is Jimmy King. I was medically retired from the Marine Corps in 2006 after 9 ½ years of active-duty service. I joined the Corps straight out of high school as I grew up knowing the military was what I wanted to do with my life.
In 2004 I was injured in Ramadi, Iraq when a VBIED went off next to the vehicle I was in. Those injuries cost me my left leg above the knee, 90% of the hearing in my left ear, and four of my fellow Marines. During my recovery at Walter Reed, I met the love of my life, and married her.
Since retiring, I have worked hard to both live a life that honors my fallen brothers and find ways to help other veterans in any way that I can, even if it’s just being there for them so that they know they do not have to fight their personal battles alone.
